My Story

What Makes Me Qualified

I founded The Kabrawala Law Group in 2014, after practicing in local, national, and multinational law firms and organizations.

My training and experience, immediately following graduation from law school, is considered by many law firms to be unconventional: whereas many of my law school peers were beginning their careers in law firms and were tasked on projects that include document review and document preparation, I started my career at the global accounting firm Arthur Andersen, where I was a member of the firm’s International Tax practice.  During 2002, I joined the “Big-4” accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche, where I served as an adviser to multinational corporations engaged in U.S. income tax planning for inbound and outbound international business transactions, international merger and acquisition transactions, reorganizations, and tax-advantaged financing transactions. This unique background, gained early in my legal career, allowed me to observe and participate in the business-workings of some of the world’s largest organizations.  I regularly interacted with executive-level management, including chief executive officers, chief financial officers, general counsel, and outside law firms, and immediately built a rapport and instilled confidence in those persons, who were particularly impressed in the way I (and my respective employers) understood the intricacies of their respective businesses, and provided advice that employed business judgment and professional advice.

My Background

Most recently, I was associated with the national law firm of Baker Hostetler LLP, where I was a member of the Baker Hostetler’s Real Estate and Hospitality Industry Teams.  I  gained valuable experience relating to the acquisition, development, financing, franchising and disposition of hotels, restaurants, resorts, mixed-use developments, and timeshare and fractional properties.

My work frequently resulted in drafting, reviewing and negotiating sophisticated purchase, sale and lease transactions, joint venture and partnership agreements, public-private partnership development agreements, franchise agreements and providing counsel through all phases of real property acquisition and divestment, including due diligence, closing and post-closing development matters.

I am also deeply committed to professional, civic and charitable organizations, including Shepherd’s Hope, Inc., where I serve as co-chair of the Governance Committee.  Shepherd’s Hope is a non-profit, faith-based organization that exists to provide access to health care for the uninsured.  Since it was founded, Shepherd’s Hope has provided over 160,000 free medical visits and patient services.
